Marantz model 4140 quad integrated amplifier in excellent condition. Includes optional SQA-2B SQ decoder. Rated at 70 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms in 2 channel mode and 25 watts RMS per channel in 4 channel mode. This unit has been serviced and fully tested. Our original Performance Verification Report, and copy of the owner's manual are included.

From the owner's manual:

The Model 4140 incorporates Marantz exclusive vari-matrix circuit which simulates 4-channel sound from normal 2-channel stereo programs, and is capable of reproducing 4-channel sound from any matrix encoded source.

The 4140 will also reproduce any discrete 4-channel program as well as regular stereo and monaural programs.

An optional plug-in decoder adapts the 4140 for any specific matrix system, such as Columbia's SQ.

The SQA-2B:

The Marantz model SQA-2B 4-channel decoder is specifically designed for plug-in use with those Marantz audio components which feature the appropriate under-chassis recess (pocket) and multi connector.

The SQA-2B contains a CBS-SQ system decoding matrix, a phase shifter, and a full logic circuit to enhance channel separation.

When equipped with the module, a 4-channel component offers full SQ system decoding capability.
